Gracepoint TC: Jesus Rocks

If there's one phrase that everyone seems to remember from 2008 TC, it is either "Vamos a la Gracepoint" or "Jesus rocks." It was amazing how our Gracepoint SF Chapel could keep a straight face throughout the 36 times that they sang "Jesus rocks". Having been a part of the audience at that time, I can tell you that at first, people thought it was hilarious that they were saying the same words over and over. But after the 10th time, the audience started looking around at each other in slight discomfort, and after the 20th time, people started to look down in embarrassment unable to look at their fellow brothers and sisters on stage, and then after the 30th time, it got funny again.

you know...during practice... it felt fine. and then on stage, i realized after the 5th "Jesus Rocks" that it was going to be a loooong song and dance. At about the 20th something "Jesus Rocks/Thank you God" I realized that we would win the broken record award. I have to say that we didn't know Rich would go all out like that :) I was kinda shocked just like you.. you just can't tell because I'm too busy "Jesus Rocks"ing.

It was interesting, to say the least, to look out into the audience and witness expressions change as we danced...

I think the important thing to remember is that Jesus really does rock doesn't He? I have to say that our song was highly biblical.

Wow, I'm surprised you guys actually counted how many times we sang Jesus Rocks: 36! I didn't think our dance routine was that funny, but your story telling abilities made it funnier. :-)

We recently watched the TC clips with our Gracepoint Hsinchu team and the Taiwanese students after SWS. Yes, they had the same reactions--there were looks of wide-eyed, open-jaw expressions of shock and amazement at the number of times that "Jesus Rocks" was sung. It was quite amusing to witness firsthand such strong reactions.
